Mike joined Elko & Associates, Ltd. in 1976 to establish the firm's auditing department, responsible for writing and implementing all accounting & audit, reporting and review procedures, heading the department from 1976 to 1988. Mike was also a member of the firm's executive committee from 1981 to 1994. He opened Elko's office in Plymouth Meeting in 1984 and has been practicing from that location ever since. Mike provides traditional accounting and tax services for his clients, primarily working with businesses in the manufacturing, distribution, publishing, and professional services industries. In addition, Mike has a tremendous amount of experience providing strategic planning guidance and facilitation. He is also a Modus Consulting advisor, helping clients to find IT solutions to maximize the potential of their business.
Mike began his career in accounting at Ernst & Young in 1971, working in the audit department. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Mike's leadership and expertise make him an invaluable asset to Elko & Associates, Ltd. A notable mentor to his co-workers, he leads by example through his hard work and dedication to providing outstanding client service.
During his successful tenure at Elko & Associates, Ltd., Mike has provided strategic planning advice that has resulted in substantial success for his clients. His accomplishments include convincing a $2 million manufacturing company to acquire a $4 million company through a leveraged buyout. The combined $6 million company now is a $20 million company with profits in excess of $1M each year. He also advised a client to reduce its activity, rather than liquidate, which yielded a doubling in size for the company and profits in excess of $5 million. As a frequent speaker, Mike shares his expertise through various presentations and seminars on key tax and accounting issues. Among his recent engagements, he presented information on Roth IRA's to the members of a local federal credit union.
Mike and his wife, Denise, are native Philadelphians currently residing in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Together, they have four children and three grandchildren. As their parents are a large influence in their lives, Mike and his wife seek to provide the same inspiration for their family. Outside of the office, Mike enjoys reading, playing golf, and watching baseball.
